BOREALIS
LOMA AEREA
(Truco Espárrago / Woodland Recordings, 2016)

Borealis is the solo project from the Asturian guitarist, Eduardo Suarez. Following his first EP in 2008 in post rock style, he began in 2012 to develop a purer primitive folk style, resulting in the following recordings: The EP "Los ojos del sobremundo" (2012) and the full length "Tumba para un caballo cojo" (2013). In 2015 the "Final Vertical" EP was released, adding a strong ambiental component to Borealis music. Now the second album "Loma Aerea" (Aerial Slope) has been released in 2016.
The composition of "Loma Aerea" began shortly after the first full length was released. The recording sessions took from 2015 to the Spring of 2016 and Eduardo considers this album to be the most difficult he has ever faced in his career as a musician. The Process was made more difficult because of the newly incorporated characteristics; the songs are longer, more harmonic, and quite complex to play. New songs included 6 and 12 strings guitars and also electric guitars, banjos, synthesizers and field recordings from Asturian forests.
"Loma Aerea" is an album of contrasts, a representation of the mystical and occult tone of natural environment. Although the songs are considerably more lengthy, they are not marked as much with the trance like drone prominent in his previous album. The sounds have gained new resources, dynamics and richness in timbre. The minimalist approach expands with an orchestral intention on a single instrument: The guitar. As always, all his songs have been recorded in one take, thus allowing the interpretation to take precedence over the technological perfectionism.
"Loma Aerea" is released in CD format in an international cooperative edition between the Asturian label Truco Espárrago and the Germany based Woodland Recordings.
